Starting to show it’s age
I’ll address the elephant in the room first…it’s expensive. At $20, it’s by far not the cheapest option to use Twitter on your Mac. But, do you get premium features for that premium price?
Tweetbot has everything the official Twitter app has, and more. It’s a much more user-friendly layout, however the old design is seriously starting to show its age. The developers claim that they are working on an update to the design, however they also claim an iPad version of Tweetbot 3 is coming…and have been for a year or so now.
Pros:
• Most features out of any Twitter app (including the official one)
• Beyond easy-to-use
• Tweetmarker syncs up your read tweets so you never have to read tweets twice (works great with Tweetbot for iPhone/iPod and/or iPad)
• Displays the number of unread tweets
• Mute users (hide their tweets without unfollowing them)
• Notification Centre compatible
• Create a new tweet right from the App Bar
Cons:
• Expensive ($19.99)
• Seriously outdated design
• Lack of updates makes users think this is abandonware
Conclusion:
Yes, it’s expensive, but if you can afford it, or you’re an avid Twitter user, this is the only Twitter app you should use. Period.
