Tweetbot for Twitter App Reviews

Buggy, publically tweets DMs, developer ignores inquiries and bug reports

When you open the DM screen and hit Cmd+N, you’re not actually creating a DM, you’re creating a public tweet. I have tweeted out personal information. And the developers response? Silence. Not even an apology. The app has a number of small bugs that make it slightly annoying to use. Things you won’t notice until you’ve been using it for a while, but which start bugging you regularly. A good, worthwhile developer would fix those issues. Tweetbot? Nope. They couldn’t care less. Despite having TweetMarker setup on every device, the Mac version is unable to reliably sync my position. I’ll read some tweets, quit the app, and when I come back on any device, I’m taken back many tweets behind where I left off. Sometimes, I’ll open the detail view of a tweet, and when I back out, I’m again taken back 20 tweets. When copying a tweet, the author isn’t attributed, so when I IM a tweet to a friend, they think it’s something I wrote. Plagarism. I’ve tweeted at the app and developer’s twitter account about these issues repeatedly over the last several months, and they refuse to acknowledge me. Support inquiries go ignored. Funny that the developers of a twitter app can’t seem to figure out how to use twitter. Maybe if they actually used Twitter, their app would be better.

Lagging behind the latest Twitter features

I can never figure out whether the latest Twitter features (like @mentions/photos not counting toward the tweet count) have been implemented, or whether theyll be implemented on Tweetbot. Im leaning towards just using the Twitter website in a Fluid app, because it seems there isnt really a good Mac Twitter client out there anymore.

iOS version so much better

I’ve been a longtime Tweetbot user on my iPhone and iPad. I love the app. This app is clunky and broken. It’s VERY different from the mobile versions and there is no type of tutorial or helpful help section. I’ll stick with the mobile version.

Doesn’t have support for Polls and user-specific tweet notifications don’t seem to work

This is my favorite Twitter app for the Mac, better than the offical version for sure but it’s missing some small things that make this app feel too different from the real Twitter experience in my opinon. First and foremost I have to say I have really no probelms with the user interface. It’s very organized and and a smooth running app (far better than the offical Mac app). It seems like it takes FOREVER for the app to be updated to keep up with Twitter’s new features that are added to their app though. This app is still lacking the ability to see Pinned Tweets and well as view and vote in Polls. Some of my favorite accounts that I follow run polls frequently and it’s annoying to see the question asked but not even see the Poll, it’s honestly confusing sometimes. The main reason Tweetbot is my first choice for using Twitter on the Mac because of the options we have to get notifications with the app, even though I feel the function is lacking in some areas. I wish there was a dedicated section for adding new user specific Tweet notifications. Under Preferences > Account I wish you’d add a dedicated space to edit and or view accounts we have notifications for and add the ability to get a notication when that account Retweets a Tweet. Same things goes with muted accounts. It’s a fairy good app, but it’s not as good as it once was (as the reviews show).

Broken Features

The “Go To User” feature has been broken for months. After emailing support, and being told that it’d be “looked into”, it has yet to be fixed. Something so trivial yet crucial to a Twitter app doesn’t work.

Don’t stupd the devs

I was having an issue and sent an email to support seeking to resolve it. They repleied very promptly with few suggestions. Great! When none of the suggesitons worked, however, I wrote back and haven’t heard anything from them since.

2.4.1 update fixed the crashes I was getting

So much happier with this update. Thanks! Best way to view a Twitter feed right here.

Still runs on Sierra

User icons display properly now (which wasnt a Tweetbot bug anyway, but hey, it works!). Also, the Mac App Store is apparently still letting Sierra beta users post reviews, which is dumb.

Had to delete the app

had to delete the app because I was spending so much time on it. I think a nice feature for the app will be to set a timer for the app. Allow me to use it only for certain duration every day

useless

syncing between this app and ios version doesnt work, so the app is basically useless if youre a power user

Needs a dark theme!

I like it, and have started using it instead of Tweetdeck (which is a complete and total POS, unfortunately).. but Tweetbot desperately needs a Dark Theme! All this white is blinding me! That and more adjustability on the columns would be very welcome.

Great app

Twitter is a really useful with this app and the companion iOS. Syncing is 97% reliable between the the Mac app and the iOS app (just had a few days of issues several months ago which resolved itself). Easy to keep track of twitter’s rapidly changing content, even if you don’t check regularly.

I really REALLY like this app. But.

The things I love: - The ability to mute hashtags / users / keywords for varying amounts of time. This is basically why I bought it, and why I keep using it (and will continue to). Election season is much nicer now! - Syncing between Macs so that I can leave home then pick up where I left off when I get to my Mac at work, without struggling to find my place again (I also have the iOS version, which it also syncs with (with caveat, below)). - Easy management of mutiple accounts. - Handles memory way more efficiently than the native Twitter desktop app, which routinely crashed when I was in my second account’s DMs. - Create Topic seems very, very useful. The things I don’t love: - Does not support group DMs. So I inevitably seem like a jerk who ignores DMs until I remember to check on the website. - Can’t drag & drop more than one image into a tweet.* - Can’t add animated GIFs contextually to a tweet.* - Can’t add emoji contextually to a tweet.* - Can’t swipe between images on a tweet with multiple images attached.* (* These four are, I think, part of the native Twitter desktop app.) - Synching with Tweetbot for iOS is challenging if I haven’t checked Twitter on an iOS device within the last few days. (There is no “Scroll to last read” that I can find.) - View own profile > click gear > View in Favstar all by itself—would love to have option to Edit Profile.

Best Twitter App

I’ve been using Tweetbot for at least a year now and it’s the best twitter app in the app store. You won’t be let down and their customer support is excellent and responds to problems/questions very quickly too! Love it !!!

Completely broke profile photo and image display

Completely broke profile photo and image display - most photos are offset, chopped up and placed in the wrong tweet, or just pink snow and garbage. Cool update.

ksa

Hello In the new Mac system Sierra was the Arabic language fully support you to please support the Arabic language in full, please for your interest in the Arab user, there is a flaw in the application

It’s the real Twitter

It’s the best twitter app that doesn’t come out of Twitter headquarters, and even beats that one.

Repeated crashes

Current version 2.4.2 crashes repeatedly on two separate Macs. Crash logs have been sent to the developer, but I’ve reverted to the previous version for the time being.

Timeline is blank half the time

After updating to MacOS, timeline rarely loads tweets. Most of the time you can only see username & avatar. To fix it you have to restart the app and pray it doesn’t happen again. 1 Star.

the best twitter client

its the only twitter client i use, both on macos and on ios. when i occassionally stumble across twitter on the web or native client, i am shocked at how clunky and disorganized they appear compared to tweetbot. aaaaaaaa+++++++ would tweet about it endlessly.
