Tweetbot for Twitter App Reviews

New version nice, but buggy

After the update tweetbot just won’t work properly in the screen split mode with mail or messages. It just doesnt resize properly and/or quits.

No iCloud sync after update

No iCloud sync after update

Ottima :)

Il miglior client per twitter in assoluto.

I love this client, but...

Split screen in full screen mode dosen’t work correctly. Please fix it!

Does not have latest OSX features

Good: The application makes it easy to switch between twitter accounts Bad: it does not have handoff support, share extension or a today center widget. For the price it’s asking for, I expect all of the bells and whistles to be available.

Crashes about every 5 minutes

New version will not sync between MAC and IOS. MAC version crashes so often has become unusable.

Skip This Version. Do Not Buy!

The current version crashes all the time. It’ll just be sitting there in the background and will crash. I’ll be scrolling and it’ll crash. It crashes more than it works. Syncing is also very broken. I’ve been using TweetMarker since purchasing the iOS and OSX apps. It’s been working fine until this version. Now it does not sync on OSX no matter what. Do yourself a favor and, if you’re wanting to buy this, skip it. If you have this already and are looking to upgrade, don’t.

Crashing after update

Update broke the app. Crashes constantly now.

Perfect

Tweetbot is the best way to use Twitter. Great user experience, polished interface and little interactions that make it delightful to keep up to date on what’s going on in the world.

Crashes constantly

This app is nice, but it crashes all the time and is very unreliable. It defaulted to iCloud syncing instead of Tweetmarker, but this is useless since I don’t use an iPhone or iPad. Hoping for a quick update because I can’t use this consistently

Latest update breaks Tweetmarker support

Tweetmarker worked perfectly fine before this update. Now it doesn’t. Why did you have to go screw it up?

Everything working ok, for a very long time.

I’ve been using Tweetbot on Mac and iOS for about 2 years now. It has crashed about 4 times in total. The current version ratings don’t give the app justice. Using El Capitan 10.11.2 on 2013 Macbook Pro - everything is fine and dandy.

UPDATE: TweetMarker bug resolved!

UPDATE: Works great now. No more crashes AND syncing with TweetMarker now works among my 3 devices. Thanks, guys! I am back to lovin’ Tweetbot! Highly recommended! ORIGINAL COMMENTS: I wrote to support about the crashes that are happening with the latest version and got an email back in a matter of minutes. For now, disable TweetMarker and use iCloud to sync your place across devices. I did this and the crashes stopped. Rare to get such a prompt response. Great customer support. Glad I can continue to use Tweetbot instead of some inferior Twitter client.

Icloud sync

Icloud sync from my iPhone to My MAC not work .

Great twitter app

The crash issues have been fixed. Thanks TapBot team for your excellent work.

Solid-Needs background display option

This platform for Mac is very good. I’ve been using tweetbot for iPhone/iPad for several years and I’m a fan. With the Mac version though, it would be greatly helpful to darken the background like in night mode for the iOS platforms. I find it very difficult to read with all of the white space.

Excellent

This application for my Mac is awesome. Love it. Good job Tapbots..

Worse than the free Twitter client in many respects

I forked over $10 for this, but am badly disappointed. I might stick with it because it (1) doesnt have ads (as far as Ive seen so far), (2) allows saving draftts, and (3) allows managing lists (though in a very slow and tedious way). But it has many problems. Ill mention a couple of them here. First, it appears to give you a background app that lives in the menu, but that is deceptive. As soon as you close Tweetbox, the menulet goes away. This means your "Global New Tweet Key" and your "Global Show/Hide Key" are not really global. They only work when the app is open, which makes them nearly useless. Switching to an open app is quick & easy, so this doesnt really save me any time. I want a way to Tweet without having to open an app or keep it open all the time. A menu thats only there when the main app is open is similarly nearly useless. The menu should belong to a background app that doesnt appear in the application switcher menu (or the Dock, for people who still use that). Secondly, a lot about the UI is unclear. For example, theres a checkbox with nothing more than the label "Streaming". Huh? I could experiment to figure out what it does, but why dont they have explanatory text or at least a tooltip? The only thing I can guess is that it means tweets come in without you needing to refresh, but why would anyone want to turn that off? Why would you ever want to have to refresh? Maybe theres a reason, but a complete sentence for the label would be helpful. For another example, I had to hunt around a lot to find how to block someone, and oddly theres a single button in a weird place for both blocking and reporting spam. Weird. Replies dont show up in your timeline. Huh? You have to go to "Mentions" to see them. That seems very odd. Adding users to lists, as I mentioned, is a very slow process if youre adding more than one or two people to the list. This could be made dramatically easier with a little thought. There were a lot more oddities and frustrations I ran into when I first tried it, but these are the ones I can remember. It might be the best option out there in some ways, but the UI needs a lot of work.

Disappointed that sync across devices is so inconsistent.

The promise that Tweetbot would sync across my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro using iCloud was a big deal for me and a primary reason I bought the apps. Unfortunately, this “syncronization” feature is wildly inconsistent. My estimate is that it works about 60-65% of the time. This appears to be a known issue, and sometimes disabling and re-enabling iCloud sync solves the problem. Sometimes, but not always. There are still a lot of great features here, but Tweetbot definitely doesn’t all that it promises.

iCloud Drive Syncing is the bomb!

Tweetbot for Mac (and for iOS, for that matter) is soooooo much better than the Twitter-brand ‘default’ app. Tweetbot offers such a great ecosystem for managing multiple accounts, receiving and acting on notificaitons, and it doesn’t have any promoted-tweet/native advertizing nonsense. The new version uses iCould Drive to sync across instances of Tweetbot (Mac & iOS), and not just timeline position! It syncs tweet unread-status, and mutes. One improvement it could really use is decreasing the time the play button stays superimposed over a gif/video once it begins playing. When it stays for multiple runs-though the video/gif, it can get really annoying.
