Tweetbot for Twitter App Reviews

Much better than the official Twitter app...

Update: I’ve found another thing that drives me crazy. In the official Twitter app (as well as the Twitter *website*), if you have an image copied to your clipboard, and paste it into an open DM, it’ll upload the image and insert it into the DM. In Tweetbot, that only works when composing public tweets. I am not sure why it doesn’t work for DM. Not a dealbreaker for sure, but it’s sure be nice to have parity with the Twitter app. Original Review: There’s only one thing that carried over from the official Twitter app that I wish wouldn’t have. When the app has focus and you press “F”, it favorites the current tweet, and there’s no way to change this behavior. Shortcuts should be customizable, or at the very least, there shouldn’t be any shortcuts without a modifier key. I keep my browser and Tweetbot both open at the same time, and sometimes, I think I’ll be typing in my browser and accidentally favorite tweets I didn’t intend to. It shouldn’t be that easy to do something that causes a notification to another user.

Couldn’t use Twitter Any Other Way

There’s a lot I could say for Tweetbot, but the thing that keeps me attached – indeed, it’s an excellent lock-in strategy – is the aggregate mute filter list crafted over the years. I don’t see posts from services I don’t care about; I don’t see tweets about topics that bore or offend me. Tweetbot isn’t a twitter client so much as a solipsism simulator, and IMO that’s the only way to really enjoy a social networking service.

Almost great

Please get rid of the Pause button overlaid right in the frickin middle of all GIFs and videos omgggggggggggg...youre killing me here!

DO NOT UPDATE if you have Yosemite OS 10.10.5

After this update, some of us have completely unusable Tweetbot apps on Macs. Endless crash loop, even after a fresh re-install. DO NOT INSTALL!!!!!!

Crashing on Yosemite 10.10.5

Endless crash loop on Yosemite 10.10.5. *DO NOT UPDATE* if you are still on this version.

UPDATE CRASHES

After update, nothing but instant crashes. Hope to see a quick fix.

No good with latest update

Endless loop of launch and crash. Do not update!!!

It’s broken now?

This update totally broke the app. I open it, it crashes. I have the old version in time machine, so I can pull that version back over. But something went super wrong with this update. Super. Please fix, because I love your app. xoxox.

Crashes on launch consistently on Yosemite

I guess this qualifies as a productivity update, since it assures that I cannot spend any time using Twitter at all.

Do not update on Mac

Will not open. Crashes repeatedly, even after de-install and re-install.

Crashy, crashy, crash

The update crashes constantly.

Crash update FIXED

I too updated to 2.3.2 and ended up in an endless crash cycle on both computers than run Yosemite. This update solved that problem without an extra effort. Thank you for the quick fix!

version 2.3.3

updated to latest version after update tried to open app error message prompted me to delete app due to app being corrupted and go back to mac app store to re download app. I’m now being prompted to repurchase app that I purchased on October 2015. What gives?

Bad Update

The latest update ruined what was a good experience for me. It no longer functions in full screen with another app and if you go to full screen, the app does not stretch to filll the screen. Please fix.

Broke full screen mode

No longer works in full screen mode when combined with another app, ex: Safari. Tweebot window expands to almost full screen, leaving only a sliver for Safari. Won’t let you resize it. Try to drag the divider between the two apps to resize and it keep snapping back to the way it was. If you want to use this in full screen mode with another app, wait for them to fix it.

Breaks copy+paste

If you copy and paste images from Finder, the app no longer works. It either crashes (more often) or pastes the filename (less often).

Thank you!

The latest update to Tweetbot fixed the issues of the previous updates. Tweetbot is back to working as intended and it’s wonderful.

Really great, just wish sync always worked

Syncing between 2 Macs and 1 iOS device using iCloud. One Mac and the iPad sync fine every time, but the other Mac only worked for a few days and now is back to not working. Wish I knew what the problem was. That’s the fly in the ointment of an otherwise very functional Twitter client. Now there are rumors that Twitter is going to go Facebook on us, and mess up our strict timelines. I only hope that if they do, Tapbots finds a way to re-sort the tweets to make it look like the old timeline. :-)

good stuff

I dig this app.

Not good enough for the buck

The app is sleek and pretty. It does what it advertises (for the most part). I have 4 accounts in my Tweetbot. Good luck switching between them. Constant crashing, freezing and force quiting. No remedy for that. It is super frustrating, as I want to use it, but can’t because of the above reasons.
